Characterization of HRPPD Tiles for the pfRICH Detector at ePIC

The Electron-Proton/Ion Collider (ePIC) Collaboration is creating a new detector for the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), scheduled to begin operation at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in 2035. The goal of the EIC is to better understand the structure and interactions of the building blocks of visible matter. Yale University’s Department of Physics plays a significant role in the ePIC collaboration, and the aim of my research within Yale Wright Laboratory is to characterize a newly developed High-Rate Picosecond Photodetector (HRPPD) tile (left) to be used in a proximity-focusing Ring Imaging CHerenkov Detector (pfRICH) subsystem within the ePIC detector.
